Start with one time-consuming task
Don't try to "use AI everywhere". Pick the task that eats the most of your week — replying to customers, writing posts, making graphics — and try one tool for it.
Writing: posts, product descriptions and replies
Free tiers of ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini can draft social posts, product descriptions and polite replies to customer questions. Give them your brand voice in a sentence ("warm, local, no jargon") and always edit before posting.
Design: graphics and social images
Canva includes AI features for generating images and designs alongside its templates. Check the license terms for commercial use, and avoid generating images that copy other brands or real people.
Admin: documents and spreadsheets
Assistants can explain spreadsheet formulas, draft simple policies and turn notes into checklists. For anything legal, tax or financial, use AI only to prepare questions — then confirm with a qualified professional.
Protect your customers' data
Don't paste customer personal details, payment information or confidential files into free AI tools unless you have checked how the provider handles data. Many tools let you turn off training on your conversations — look in the settings.
Measure the result
After two weeks, ask: did this save time or improve quality? Keep what works and drop the rest.
